Like father like sonCreated on: 18 April 2006 “Like father, like son.” The SA Grand Champion at the National Show for Measured Production, is a son of the Konsortium-Merino’s Windsor – the 2004 SA Grand Champion at the same show.
Konsortium-Merino were awarded a third (32) of the possible 98 placings in 14 categories. John Luscombe of Grove Merino’s was placed second and Vetties Esterhuizen of Victoria-Merino’s third, in the overall points for the Victor Ludorum. The Konsortium group attained, amongst others, five SA champions and four reserve champions:
- SA Grand Champion Ewe: weight gain (ADG)
- SA Grand Champion Ram: weight gain (ADG)
- SA Grand Champion - group of 3 ewes and 3 rams: weight gain (ADG)
- SA Grand Champion - group of 3 ewes and 3 rams: body weight (kg)
- SA Grand Champion Ram: overall excellence (R/c)
- SA Reserve Champion Ram: body weight (kg)
- SA Reserve Champion: highest visual score (overall total)
- SA Reserve Champion - group of 3 ewes and 3 rams: overall excellence (R/c)
- SA Reserve Champion: Victor Ludorum (overall winner)
This was the eleventh show for measured production and formed part of the Merino Classic which was held in Graaff-Reinet. The next measured show will take place in 2008.
